X-Press Feeders, the world’s largest independent common carrier, plans to lead the global maritime industry by using dual-fuel vessels, capable of operating on green methanol, to create sustainable routes. We are proud to announce the launch of our second dual-fuel vessel, Eco Levant.
Joining Eco Maestro, the first dual-fuel vessel christened in July 2024, Eco Levant began its voyage on GFX on 17 August 2024. Like her sister unit, Eco Levant was designed to operate on green methanol, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 65%, underscoring our commitment to NetZero 2050. This fleet of dual-fuel vessels is undoubtedly a key component of our company’s sustainability strategy.
The Green Finland X-Press (GFX) which is powered by green methanol, connects Rotterdam, Antwerp, Helsinki, Tallin, Kotka, and back to Rotterdam. The GFX service is the first service within the first green methanol-powered feeder network in Europe. The launch of Eco Levant will provide our customers with more capacity to meet their sustainability needs.
Green methanol is a renewable energy source produced from the decomposition of organic matter, such as waste and residues. The green methanol that X-Press Feeders using is supplied by OCI and is independently certified in Europe under ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). By using green methanol, an alternative marine fuel, it allows our ships to operate more efficiently, with a reduced greenhouse gas emission of up to 65% in terms of main engine propulsion when using green methanol instead of conventional fuel, whilst also setting a new benchmark for the sustainable shipping industry.
The launch of our dual-fuel vessels and green methanol-powered feeder network reflects our commitment to spearheading sustainable shipping methods. By prioritizing alternative fuels such as green methanol, X-Press Feeders is setting a new standard in the shipping industry, shaping a more sustainable future for the global maritime industry.
