Campaigns

In addition to our typical CSR policies, we also engage in other campaigns to address issues our employees feel passionate about, such as typhoon relief and cancer research.

Ukraine Aid

Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, more than 5 million people have fled to other countries, and another 6 million are estimated to be internally displaced. It has exposed people to extremely distressing situations. Many have lost loved ones, their homes, their jobs, and others have witnessed traumatic events. the humanitarian needs of its citizens escalate dramatically.

X-Press Feeders did our part by offering our support to the refugees in Poland. Colleagues from Hamburg, Barcelona and Southampton donated essential items such as medical aid, long-term food, and personal care items by bringing them to their respective offices. A team from each office then personally took care of delivering the in-kind donations to the Red Cross at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

Apart from the donations from within X-Press Feeders’ offices, X-Press Feeders’ customers and vendors had also indicated their interests in collaborating with us, by sending in their donations and cartons of supplies. Thanks to our customers and vendors, we have managed to raise a substantial amount. The donations would be used to purchase more necessities before the teams in Hamburg head to the Polish-Ukrainian border.

On the morning of 19 September 2022, teams from Southampton office had started their trip to the Red Cross at the Polish-Ukrainian border, with a van full of supplies. Colleagues from Barcelona flew over to Hamburg to join the Hamburg team in purchasing the necessities and loading all the items into the vans. The teams in Hamburg started their trip on 20 September 8am. All the teams reached the Polish Red Cross in Przeworsk on the afternoon of 21 September and have safely delivered all the necessities to the Red Cross.

We would like to thank our Corporate Social Responsibility teams in Southampton, Barcelona, and Hamburg for coordinating the logistics and the volunteers who volunteered their time to making sure that all the necessities are safely delivered to the Polish Red Cross.

The project has to bring meaningful and impactful change to the society. The winning proposals would be awarded with funds to implement the projects.

The Annapurna Challenge

In 2020, X-Press Feeders organized a company-wide activity to promote teambuilding and healthy living as well as giving back to the community, where staff from all X-Press Feeders offices form teams or participate as a solo contestant to climb the equivalent height of Mount Annapurna over 3 days. Mount Annapurna is the 10th highest mountain in the world, the deadliest of all the eight-thousanders and the name of our flag-ship X-Press Annapurna. Each office had nominated their choice of charity as the beneficiary of the funds raised from the challenge.

Due to the Covid-19’s lockdowns and strict restrictions, the Annapurna Challenge was postponed to 2021. In the 2nd half of 2021, as restrictions started to ease, the Company had decided to make a small adjustment, each regional offices are flexible to do their Annapurna Challenge over 3 days during their preferred month within 2021.

X-Press Feeders and Transworld supported this drive by helping to ship the relief materials in a 20' container from Singapore to Chennai on 9 Sept 2018. Sea Consortium Shipping India helped to arrange a trailer to transport the container to Irinjalakkuda from where Ys Men International took over the relief cargo. Hair for hope 2018

7 of our colleagues at X-Press Feeders shaved off their locks and raised a total amount of 89 grand for the Children Cancer Foundation (CCF) on 29 July 2018.

Quoting one of our colleagues, “Losing my hair so as to raise awareness to this cause is nothing compared to the poor kids suffering from cancer. At least I have a choice. The kids do not. They just have to do it as it’s Do or Die!”

This same sentiment was shared by many others. It was the first time for all of them and it started out as a personal effort from each of them to do some good and contribute to CCF in our small ways. We received tremendous support over time from our families, friends and from our company as well. For the ladies, the concept of shaving their heads might have been personally daunting for a few seconds but became a non-event with the show of support over time. It was a meaningful experience and X-Press Feeders is privileged to have contributed to such a worthy cause

campaign-say-no-to-shark-fin

Say No to Shark Fin

X-Press Feeders joins WWF-Hong Kong’s ‘say-no to shark fin’ campaign in 2018. We are committed to working responsibly to combat the overfishing of shark species. Therefore we implemented procedures to ensure that our vessels and services are not used for the carriage of Shark fin products.

Shark fin demand is one of the greatest threats to shark species today. Nearly 100 million sharks are estimated to be killed every year. Illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing practices are not uncommon.

One-quarter of sharks and related species are threatened with extinction. Sharks are considered a ‘keystone’ species of our marine ecosystem. “Shark losses can contribute to the destruction of the delicate balance of ocean ecosystems, which are essential for the numerous species that depend on it and for humans.”

Protecting sharks is vital to promoting healthy oceans around the world.

campaign-cambodia

Cambodia

On 13 to 17 November 2015, a team of 7 employees from X-Press Feeders Singapore, self-funded their journey to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to help the poor people living there. The Company extended two days of volunteer leave for this trip.

In this 21st century, it is an eye-opening experience to know that there are people who still live in such poor conditions devoid of hygiene and daily necessities like food, clean water and soap.

The donations of more than USD5000 were contributed by both the employees and X-Press Feeders, which greatly benefited the communities. Our aim was to bring a smile to the faces of the people, and we did it well.
