- Maximize vessel stowage based on CBF declared with minimum shut out / restows due to stowage issues, with equal crane split to optimize cargo operations and without impeding vessel safety. \n
- Stowage Planning of the vessel to be in compliance with DG segregation, Vessel stability, Lashing parameters, Line of Sight, Trim to meet safety requirements as per regulations. \n
- Closely monitor Vessel Reports in system to minimize pending reports and delayed submission. Ensure vessel report are accurate. Assist Line Managers (LM) with monitoring of alerts to ensure vessels are always following instructions. \n
- Speed adjustment instructions to Captain. \n
- Co-ordinate bunkering operations with local agency/operations to ensure smooth operation. \n
- Advise planned draft and load ability for draft restricted ports. \n
- Support line management in monitoring and coordinating downline berth window with port of call agents and highlight situations which could lead to vessel delays, congestion or affect terminal productivity. \n
- Screen OOG/COD/Special stowage requests and ensure strict compliance with the company policy unless a valid exception has been authorized. \n
- Monitor tug usage on the arrival/departure reports and raise queries with Master/Assist Operations Manager (AOM) where excess tug usage is spotted. \n
- Monitor SDR’s closely to ensure initial action is taken and terminals are put on notice. AOM, LM/ Legal is correctly informed in case the SDR becomes a claim. \n
- Assist LM with PRF management to control and streamline such costs. \n
- Update forecast and utilization details. \n
- Support current Business Transformation initiatives as and when required concerning EDI integration with terminals, customers and development of internal procedures relating specifically to areas of expertise. \n
- Manage and take ownership of day-to-day operational matters of assigned vessels. \n
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Operations or the Reporting Manager. \n
As a member of the Line Operations department, you will ensure the safe planning and reduction of operating cost of vessels as part of the Line Management team and provide a professional link between Vessel Master, Line Management team and location agents in regard to all operational, vessel schedule and capacity matters.

summary
Summary: To assist a Line Manager (LM) or Trade Head in the day-to-day operations of the service. An ALM can also be responsible for the Profit and Loss of a service without physical vessel provision. This is usually on a service where we have slot on a third-party service.
Reports to: Hub Director / General Manager / Trade Head
roles and responsibilities
Assisting a Line Manager with a relatively heavy daily operational & commercial workload, including:
- Overseeing daily operational aspects, including monitoring vessel movement at sea and vessel activities when in port, and maintaining close liaison with overseas agents. Notwithstanding communicating to master.
- Managing space control, including executing over-booking, cargo selection addressing fixed slot customer excess requests and liaising with oversea agents on booking forecast.
- Updating vessel positions for both our own operated ship and partner’s vessel and disseminating revised schedule to internal office, agency and key clients.
- Close monitoring of daily vessel speed resulting in bunker consumption using the system to ensure the vessel consumption aligns with Time Charter Description (TCD) and cross check against other sister ships previously operated in the trade or region.
- Monitoring and reviewing bunker survey report of individual stems and confirm that reported quantities align with the master’s reported ROB, and immediately addressing any variations.
An Assistant Line Manager (ALM) may be assigned to manage a third-party independent service. While the cost is typically fixed, the ALM can influence the profit and loss through space utilization and rates.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing daily correspondence regarding vessel schedules, space management, and pricing with internal and external parties.
- Preparing weekly flash reports.

- Bachelor’s degree in maritime business or business management.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in shipping line involving in trade.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues across departments and various internal & external stakeholders.
